Learn about actions the education sector can take to improve health and wellbeing to improve student, staff, parents, family, whānau and school community health and wellbeing:
How We Can Help
Our Education team works with early learning services and schools/kura to promote a range of health and wellbeing areas which contribute to improved outcomes for the health and wellbeing of their whanau, staff and tamariki. For example, we help schools and early learning services to develop healthy food and water-only (and plain milk) educational environments.
Our Health Protection team provide advice and recommendations to early learning services at the licensing stage to ensure they meet the required health and safety requirements. The main areas they focus on include immunisation registers, food hygiene, safety and suitability of play equipment, general cleanliness and upkeep of the centre. They also guide and support schools and early learning services to prevent and control infectious disease outbreaks.
