Nutrition
Councils have a significant role with nutrition and food security through their work in food safety, restaurant licensing, urban design, planning, policy and as role models. Councils are also crucial with their support for initiatives such as community gardens and edible planting.
Councils can have a great impact in improving access to affordable, safe and nutritious food for their community. Working towards sustainable food access, or food security, takes a collaborative approach (see model below).
